As early as the 15th century, the Domain’s vineyards were to
be named after the wine- growers’ patron saint , St Vincent. This, in itself, shows
how rich the potential of the soil the vine-plants grow on,is and has always
been.

Located on the hillside parallel to the Loire, close to the actual “Route du Vin”,the 28 hectares of fertile clay and limestone soil of the St Vincent Domain, are blessed with a generous environment and good sun exposure. In I984, Patrick Vadé takes over the family business. Since,Patrick , perpetuating the tradition , respects the Loire Valley’s environment , and produces elegant Saumur wines, which offer subtle and refined “noses” . As a wine-grower Patrick Vadé patiently and meticulously looks after his vineyards, endeavours to express the nature of the land in his wines to bring the very best out of fully-matured grapes. As a wine-maker , he craftily uses today’s new techniques , allowing him to elaborate elegant “cuvées” of delicate flavours. Using one of these very recent techniques, Patrick has sown grass to grow between the rows of all his vineyards. The roots of the vine-plants thus, finding themselves in competition with the roots of the new vegetation, end up having to dig even deeper into the soil for nourishment, this very soil which has given to Saumur wines throughout the ages, their fame for “finesse” . Also, the presence of new micro-organisms contributes efficiently to fight against outbreaks of diseases |
